Travel + Leisure: Bangkok is the world's best city in 2008

BANGKOK, July 10 (TNA) - Bangkok has been voted as World’s Best City by one of the most influential international travel magazines, moving up from its third place ranking in 2007.

Editor-in-chief of American-based Travel + Leisure Nancy Novogrod Thursday announced Bangkok as the world’s most attractive city replacing Italy’s Florence which this year ran third on the list.

Deputy Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Mr. Surapol Sawetseranee said this international praise would surely earn Bangkok even more attention from tourists who were right now deciding where to go, especially with the upcoming European ‘high season’ approaching in the next 3 to 4 months.

Other awards bestowed by Travel + Leisure included, the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador as World’s Best Island; Singapore Airlines, once again, as World’s Best Airline and New York City, for the eighth consecutive time, as the best city in the US. (TNA)
